“The American desire is to achieve a ceasefire” in the Alaska meeting, Emmanuel Macron announced moments ago.
Following talks with Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron spoke to the press, accompanied by European Council President António Costa.
“The exchange of views with Donald Trump allowed us to clarify his intentions and, for us, to express our expectations,” the French president stated after the videoconference talks concluded.
“The American will is to achieve a ceasefire,” he emphasized and then added: “We want everything concerning Ukraine to be discussed with Ukraine.”
Territorial issues at the center, Macron declared
Macron stated that among the key topics in the discussions between European leaders and Donald Trump regarding the war in Ukraine were territorial issues.
BFTMTV reminds that just days before the summit between the American president and his Russian counterpart, scheduled for Friday in Alaska, Russian forces made on Tuesday their largest advance in 24 hours on Ukrainian territory in more than a year, according to AFP analysis and data provided by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
“Territorial issues concerning Ukraine will be negotiated only by the Ukrainian president, this is the position we support,” Macron declared.
