Firefighting forces in Izmir, Turkey fought all night to contain the blaze that erupted on Tuesday evening (August 12). On Wednesday morning, aerial units began operations, and a few hours later authorities announced that the fire was brought under control.

Turkey: All-night battle against flames in Izmir – Fire started from bus malfunction
The wildfire began when a bus burst into flames on a peripheral road in Izmir. According to CNN Turk, authorities have arrested the bus driver, owner, and a mechanic. High temperatures and elevated wildfire risk have prompted authorities to issue warnings calling for increased vigilance across the country.
According to A-Haber network, firefighting forces have successfully brought fires under control in Canakkale, Hatay, Manisa, Antalya, Izmir’s Buca province, and Edirne. Meanwhile, efforts continue to contain blazes in Izmir’s Aliaga province and Kahramanmaras’s Goksun province.
The rapid spread of flames is attributed to adverse weather conditions, while firefighting forces continue their round-the-clock battle against the fire fronts.
