The search continues for 43-year-old Turkish businessman Halit Yukai, who has been missing since Saturday evening when he left with his yacht from Yalova in southwestern Turkey bound for Mykonos. The yacht was found by the Turkish coast guard damaged and half-sunken off Proconnesos, an island in the Sea of Marmara off the Propontis.
According to a report in Milliyet, the captain of a cargo ship who was detained in connection with the case was released on bail today. The captain stated in his testimony: “It was around 17:00 and I had gone down for food. I had communicated with the company. Suddenly I felt a vibration, I didn’t understand what was happening, I looked ahead and saw two pieces to my right and left.”
“I couldn’t understand what was happening. I looked ahead and saw two pieces to my right and left. I saw what looked like pieces of wood. I passed through the middle, but after a while I returned with the ship. I didn’t feel comfortable. At that moment, I saw a lifeboat. I didn’t understand what the wooden pieces I saw to my right and left were. When I realized it had nothing to do with me (my ship), I continued my journey,” he added.
