A heartwarming video shows the moment an ecstatic father tells his son he won £1 million in the lottery after a two-year battle with cancer, as reported by the Daily Mail. 51-year-old Paul Harvey from Attleborough, Norfolk, endured difficult years undergoing exhausting treatment for bowel cancer, according to the same outlet.
Harvey was overjoyed when he discovered last month that he had won a substantial amount in the National Lottery’s EuroMillions Millionaire Maker draw. He says he has big dreams and the money he won will change his life. His most important priority, however, is to take his family on their first vacation abroad together. Where does he want to vacation? Greece!
Harvey explained to British media why he chose Greece: “I speak fluent Greek and I’m excited to show that to the kids. I lived in Cyprus for 12 years when I was younger.”
Plans for a different life
He also plans to move house, as they currently live in a property without enough bedrooms, with Harvey sleeping in the living room. The devoted dad, as the Daily Mail describes him, also wants to buy a Fiat for his daughter to practice driving, as she has scheduled her driving tests for this year.
Before starting their new life, he had to announce the news to his children, who were overjoyed and moved. Harvey captured the moment on camera and couldn’t hide his enthusiasm as his son returned home from school.
The 52-year-old set up his phone to capture the moment. “How many millionaires do you know?” he asked his son. The teenager, whose details his father keeps private, replied: “Zero, I don’t have money.”
Harvey then told him “now you know one,” with the boy quickly understanding exactly what his dad meant and exclaiming: “Stop it, you’re joking, you’re lying.” Harvey responded: “On my life, one million pounds, mate,” before father and son began celebrating in the kitchen.
