Donald Trump characterized today’s meeting between US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin as “extremely productive” through a post on Truth Social. The American president emphasized that significant progress was made and briefed European allies on the results.
He reiterated that the war must end and that in the coming weeks “we will work on this issue.”
In his post, Donald Trump writes: “My Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, just had an extremely productive meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Great progress was made! I then briefed some of our European allies.
Everyone agrees that this war must end, and we will work toward that goal in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, American President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation. No details about the content of the discussion have been released yet.
