The Daily Mail brings to light new information about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s “invisible” trip to the Ionian islands. According to the report, the royal family went on a luxury yacht cruise last July, however they never set foot on Greek soil, as such a move was rejected for security reasons.
Prince George: Junk food craving in Zakynthos “mobilized” the yacht’s crew
While sailing through the Greek islands, 12-year-old Prince George – William and Kate’s firstborn son – apparently requested a meal that wasn’t available on the vessel’s menu. As the yacht was sailing south of the Ionian Sea, between Kefalonia and Zakynthos, a support boat was dispatched to satisfy the young prince’s “particular” desire.
Sources from the British outlet report that the boat’s mission was to procure a specific meal from the town of Laganas, where one of the few McDonald’s restaurants operating on Greek islands is located. While it’s not specified exactly what George ordered, the Daily Mail notes that the young prince is a lover of carbonara – however local sources joke that on that particular day he probably preferred something more… fast.
The manager of the McDonald’s restaurant in Zakynthos neither confirmed nor denied the incident, stating: “It is company policy not to provide information about our customers.”
Royal family: Surprise encounter near Ithaca
Meanwhile, last week the Daily Mail had revealed a surprise encounter near Ithaca. 64-year-old Penelope Likoudi, a retired civil servant, spotted members of the royal family on a super yacht while swimming at the secluded Mavrouna beach. As she reported, she found herself just 30 meters away from the vessel and saw Kate, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Although the royal family reportedly explored several spots in the Ionian islands, they never disembarked on any island, confirming the Daily Mail’s characterization of a “ghost trip” through Greek waters.
