Hostage families held in the Gaza Strip met today (2/08) with Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff in Israel’s capital Tel Aviv, receiving the hopeful message that the US will bring their loved ones back and ensure Hamas is held accountable. According to a statement, Witkoff characteristically said: “We will bring your children back and we will hold Hamas responsible for any harmful action on their part. We will do what is right for the people of Gaza”

“We know who is alive and some will be held responsible if they don’t come out alive. The US supports this statement,” Steve Witkoff emphasized. Trump’s envoy also expressed hope that the end of the war is approaching. “We have a plan to end the war and bring them all back,” Witkoff said characteristically.
As stated in an announcement by the Hostage Families Forum, the American official emphasized during the meeting, which lasted nearly three hours, “President Donald Trump’s commitment, as well as his personal commitment” to the return of all hostages. According to official Israeli data, 50 hostages remain in the Gaza Strip, of whom at least 20 are believed to be alive.
