While Russia ignores Donald Trump’s deadline for achieving a peace agreement to end the war, Ukraine continues to strike enemy military installations with long-range drones in retaliation for Russian attacks on civilians. The Ukrainian military announced today (02.08.2025) that it launched drone attacks on oil facilities in Russia, including a major refinery, a military drone airfield, and an electronics systems factory.
Ukrainian drone strikes targeted Russian oil refineries, including the Novokuybyshevsk facility in the Samara region and the Ryazan refinery. The attacks ignited large fires and explosions, disrupting fuel production and supplies critical to Russian military operations.

In a Telegram post, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces reported that they struck the oil refinery in Ryazan, approximately 180 kilometers southeast of Moscow, causing fires at the facilities. According to the same source, the Annanefteprodukt fuel storage facilities in the Voronezh region, which borders northeastern Ukraine, were also targeted.
The announcement does not specify how the facilities were hit, but Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces specialize in drone warfare operations, including long-range strikes.
No comment from Russia on the attacks
Russia has not yet commented on the reported attacks on its infrastructure.
Additionally, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) announced that its drones struck the Russian military airfield Primorsko-Akhtarsk, which is used for launching long-range drones against targets in Ukraine.

The SBU also said it struck a factory in Penza, which, according to the agency, supplies electronic systems to Russian military-industrial units.
Russia’s Defense Ministry daily report states that Russian air defense systems shot down a total of 338 Ukrainian drones overnight. It does not specify how many Ukrainian drones were launched in total.
For its part, Ukraine’s Air Force said it shot down 45 of the 53 Russian drones launched toward its territory during the night.
Russian Defense Ministry announces village capture in Donetsk
On Ukraine’s eastern front, the Russian Defense Ministry claims that Russian forces captured the village of Olexandro-Kalinove in the Donetsk region today.
Reuters has not yet verified this claim from the front. Russian forces now control nearly 20% of Ukraine in its eastern and southern regions, after more than three years of hostilities.
