Chinese President Xi Jinping will make an official visit to the United States in the coming days, during which he will meet his American counterpart Donald Trump. China’s Foreign Ministry has stated that the Chinese president will seek to work toward “strategic stability” during the summit.

Xi Jinping’s US visit: China ready to work toward “strategic stability”
As Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated at a regular press briefing: “China is ready to work with the United States to enrich the content of the constructive strategic stability relationship between the two countries, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, properly manage differences, continuously improve the well-being of both peoples, and promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping will travel to the United States for an official visit from Wednesday through Friday, as China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed earlier today.
“At the invitation of US President Donald Trump, President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to the United States from September 23 to 25,” the ministry said in a statement.
All eyes on the Trump–Xi summit
The trip had been widely anticipated for several weeks but had not been officially confirmed by the Chinese side, in line with standard diplomatic practice. This will be the second summit between Xi and Trump in 2026, following Trump’s visit to Beijing in May, and their third in-person meeting since Trump returned to the White House in January 2025.
The visit will mark Xi’s first trip to the United States since 2023, when he traveled to California for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and met Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden.
Topics on the agenda are expected to include the ongoing tariff and trade dispute between the two countries, artificial intelligence safety, and global conflicts such as the wars involving Iran and Ukraine.
