The government of Netanyahu is reportedly preparing a plan for the full annexation of the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media reports. Specifically, as reported by the newspaper Haaretz, the Israeli Prime Minister intends to present this plan shortly to the security cabinet, “in an attempt to appease far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich,” who had opposed Netanyahu’s decision to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza.

According to the plan, Hamas would have just a few days to agree to a ceasefire, otherwise Israel would begin the gradual annexation of Palestinian territories. Areas in the buffer zone would be annexed first, followed by areas in northern Gaza Strip, adjacent to the Israeli cities of Sderot and Ashkelon.
