A serious collision occurred early in the morning in eastern Netherlands, when an Austrian tourist bus carrying German secondary school students crashed into a delivery van, leaving approximately 20 people injured, eight of whom were taken to hospital. “Some of the injured who have been transported to hospital are in serious condition,” the Gelderland provincial police stated in a post on X. Others sustained minor injuries.

The accident occurred at around 4:00 a.m. on the A28 motorway near the town of Wezep, located approximately 100 kilometres east of Amsterdam.
According to a police spokesperson, more than 50 people were on board the bus at the time of the crash. The driver of the delivery van is also among the injured.
Following the accident, the A28 motorway was closed in both directions.
Images released to the public show firefighters helping students exit the bus through its roof. Many of the passengers sustained injuries from broken glass inside the vehicle.
