A 20-year-old woman named Rosie Roche, a cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, was found dead with a gun beside her. The victim was the granddaughter of Princess Diana’s uncle and was discovered dead in Wiltshire by her mother and sister during a period when she was preparing for a holiday with friends.
An investigation has been ordered, although her death is considered by police to be “non-suspicious, without third-party involvement” according to coroner Grant Davies.
Rosie was studying English Literature at Durham University. She was the eldest child of (Edmund) Hugh Burke Roche and his former wife, Phillipa Kate Victoria Long. Her grandfather was Baron Fermoy, Princess Diana’s uncle, who had committed suicide with a gun in 1984.
The suicide of princes Harry and William’s cousin wasn’t the first for the Windsor family
Another suicide has been confirmed in the Windsor family, that of Thomas Kingston, former partner of Pippa Middleton and husband of Lady Gabriella, in February 2024. The 45-year-old was found dead at his parents’ home in the Cotswolds area outside London, with a head injury.
A gun was also found beside him. The forensic examination showed he was taking multiple medications to treat depression, as he had been experiencing work-related difficulties due to stress. In his final days, he had stopped taking any pharmaceutical treatment, except for small amounts of a sleeping pill that was found in his bloodstream.
