Indirect technical talks at a lower level (low-level) between the United States and Iran are currently underway in Doha, conducted through Pakistani and Qatari mediators, with the goal of reaching an agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East — according to a diplomatic source familiar with the discussions, as cited by CNN.
“American and Iranian officials will hold indirect technical talks today in Doha with Qatari and Pakistani mediators,” another diplomat told Agence France-Presse earlier, requesting anonymity.
Donald Trump’s envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, will not be participating in these technical discussions, the same diplomat added. The two officials met yesterday in the Qatari capital with Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, with whom they discussed the “ongoing talks between the US and Iran” as well as the situation in Lebanon, according to a statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
