Within minutes, the post was deleted from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s account, coinciding with his visit today to occupied Cyprus, particularly on the anniversary of 51 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
More specifically, when it was realized that the first photo shared showing Turkish soldiers who participated in the “Peace Operation” (invasion) actually depicted members of EOKA, the post was immediately replaced with a new photograph.
Below is the photo that was initially posted on the Turkish president’s account

Kıbrıs Türk halkının 20 Temmuz Barış ve Özgürlük Bayramı’nı yürekten tebrik ediyorum.
Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı’nın 51’inci yıl dönümünde, Kıbrıs Türk halkının var olma mücadelesi için can veren şehitlerimizi rahmetle yâd ediyor, kahraman gazilerimize şükranlarımı sunuyorum. pic.twitter.com/2OQex58t8H
