Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated today, Thursday (04/06) that the statements by his American counterpart, Marco Rubio in support of Ukraine demonstrate that what Russia called “Biden’s war” has now become “Trump’s war”. Furthermore, according to the Russian state news agency RIA, Lavrov emphasized that the hostilities in Ukraine would have already ended if the US truly sought a peace agreement.
Russia: No fundamental differences between US and European approaches
It should be noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated yesterday to a House of Representatives Committee that there would be news “very soon” regarding $400 million that Congress had approved for aid to Ukraine, funding that had been delayed by the US Department of Defense.
As reported by RIA, Lavrov emphasized that Rubio’s statements of support for Ukraine demonstrated that there are no fundamental differences between US and European approaches.
It is noted that after returning to the White House, Trump has restored dialogue with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and has repeatedly promised to end the war in Ukraine, something he has not yet managed to achieve. Trump had stated shortly after taking office that the war between Russia and Ukraine is his predecessor Joe Biden’s war, not his own.
