Russia responded in harsh terms to recent statements by Donald Trump about the war in Ukraine and the delivery of Western weapons, with the Russian Foreign Ministry accusing the former American president of “encouraging the continuation of the slaughter.”
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the positions expressed by Trump constitute “a clear signal in favor of prolonging the bloodshed” and strengthen the conflict, according to the Russian side.
Meanwhile, Moscow raised the stakes even higher, emphasizing that all foreign military forces operating within Ukrainian territory under the umbrella of the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” will henceforth be considered legitimate military targets by Russia.
Zakharova: We will take all necessary measures to protect our country
In a forceful tone, Zakharova added: “We will take all necessary measures to protect our country,” noting that Moscow believes the need for full implementation of its strategic objectives on the Ukrainian front has become even more urgent.
The Russian side views the initiative to form the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” as direct military intervention. As Zakharova stated, “any deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine, even under the pretext of international cooperation, constitutes unacceptable military intervention for us.”
She concluded by reiterating Moscow’s position: “We have repeatedly made it clear that the deployment of armed forces from other countries in Ukraine, under any pretext, is absolutely unacceptable. We consider it preparation for foreign military intervention. The so-called ‘multinational forces’ will be considered by us as legitimate military targets.”
