The Iranian Foreign Minister warned that “those who collude with Israel to sow division will be held to account.” Iran threatened the United Arab Emirates, claiming it knew about the alleged visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Abu Dhabi at the height of the now-stalled American-Israeli military campaign against Tehran.
“Netanyahu has now publicly revealed what Iran’s security services long ago conveyed to our leadership,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post on X platform, without explaining why Tehran had not previously disclosed the information it claims to have possessed. “Enmity with the Great People of Iran is a foolish gamble,” Araghchi added. “Collusion with Israel in doing so is unforgivable.”
United Arab Emirates: Denies Netanyahu visit
The UAE Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, dismissed as “baseless” reports of a previously secret visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the UAE.
Netanyahu’s office revealed on Wednesday that he had visited the United Arab Emirates and met with their president during the war against Iran. According to the announcement, the previously secret meeting between Netanyahu and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led to “historic progress” in relations between the two countries.
A source with knowledge of the matter said the two leaders met in Al Ain, an oasis near the border with Oman, on March 26. Their meeting lasted several hours, the source added.
The UAE is one of the few Arab countries maintaining diplomatic relations with Israel, which were normalized in 2020 through the Abraham Accords, a diplomatic achievement of Donald Trump’s first term in the White House.
