The Israeli Air Force launched a wave of attacks against Hezbollah targets in the eastern Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, the IDF announced on Tuesday. The IDF reports that the targets struck include military facilities belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, where members were located along with weapons storage sites.
“The military compounds that were targeted are used by the terrorist organization Hezbollah for training and preparing terrorists for planning and executing terrorist operations against IDF forces and the State of Israel,” the Israeli military stated in its announcement.
The weapons stored at these locations and Hezbollah’s activities “constitute a blatant violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon and pose a future threat to the State of Israel,” the statement adds. Hezbollah’s Radwan Force had undertaken the invasion of Israel, and the IDF reports that the elite unit had advanced the “Conquer the Galilee” plan.
For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the ongoing Israeli military raids in Lebanon are a clear message to Hezbollah.

It should be noted that Israel has repeatedly bombed Lebanon despite the ceasefire in November, which sought to end over a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, including two months of full-scale war that left the group severely weakened.
Reports of Israeli strikes in Syria as well
Meanwhile, the Israeli air force conducted several raids in the Sweida region of southern Syria earlier Tuesday morning, according to reports from Syrian media. The IDF has not yet commented.
Israel’s airstrikes come as Syrian government forces enter the Druze-majority city of Sweida in an effort to end deadly clashes with Bedouin tribes. Yesterday, the IDF carried out strikes against several Syrian battle tanks approaching Sweida.
Israel has previously pledged to protect members of Syria’s Druze community. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that yesterday’s strike was “a message and a clear warning to the Syrian regime: We will not allow the Druze in Syria to be harmed.”
An AFP correspondent at a Sweida entrance reports violent clashes as government forces enter the city.
A statement from Druze religious authorities had called on local fighters to lay down their arms. However, acting Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijiri, who initially welcomed the entry of government forces, later called in a statement to “resist this violent campaign with all available means.”
