Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov called Giorgia Meloni an “educated idiot” and “nasty ugly little woman” during his show. The prime minister of Italy doesn’t usually respond to random insults she hears, but she made an exception in this case. She took a selfie in front of the Italian and European Union flags and called the Russian presenter a “zealous propagandist” and “caricature.” Meloni specifically wrote: “By nature, a zealous regime propagandist cannot give lessons in either consistency or freedom. But these caricatures will not make us change course. We, unlike others, have no strings, no masters, and take no orders. Our compass remains one and only: Italy’s interests. And we will continue to follow it with pride, despite the wishes of propagandists, wherever they may be.”
