A deadly shooting incident occurred on Sunday afternoon (13/7) at a church in Kentucky, USA, when a gunman opened fire, killing two women and seriously injuring two men. The victims were two women, aged 72 and 32, while two male parishioners were wounded with one in critical condition and the second hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident began when a man opened fire on a traffic police officer during a routine stop. Subsequently, the perpetrator fled, stealing a vehicle, and headed toward a Baptist church in the city of Lexington, where he continued his deadly rampage, shooting at those present. Authorities returned fire and eventually managed to neutralize him.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunman entered the church basement and confronted an elderly woman and her daughter, who were preparing meals for the congregation, and allegedly asked if his children’s mother was there. When he received a negative answer, he reportedly said: “Well, someone has to die” and opened fire. The elderly woman tried to take cover but was struck by a bullet in the chest, resulting in her death on the spot. The perpetrator left the building and fatally shot the woman’s other daughter. He then seriously wounded the elderly woman’s husband, who is also the church pastor, as well as the second woman’s husband.

According to information from the investigation, it appears the perpetrator had a personal connection to members of the church, a fact being examined as a possible motive for the attack. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear condemned the incident in a statement on platform X, writing: “This kind of violence has no place in our country.” The case is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police.
