Even in one of the most historic moments for humanity in recent decades, NASA cannot escape conspiracy theories. The Artemis II mission, which traveled to the Moon breaking every record, found itself under scrutiny after a viral video circulated on social media. But what is the truth?
The video that sparked controversy
The conspiracy theories were triggered by a clip from an astronaut interview on CNN, which was shared across social media platforms. In the video, users focus on a plush toy floating inside the spacecraft. According to their claims, there appears to be a “visual glitch” that proves green screen usage, they argue. The post refers to an “augmented reality failure” and suggests that the mission is not authentic.

The explanation
However, according to analysis cited by The Premium 24, the alleged “glitch” does not appear in the authentic broadcasts. Instead, it appears to result from an edited version of the video. As noted: “the original footage does not include any such element” and the distorted version circulating has been altered, leading to misleading conclusions.
There’s a video going around claiming a “glitch” during a NASA Artemis II livestream showed green screen text on a plush toy.
The original broadcast does NOT show green screen text on the plush toy. The circulating version has been altered to create confusion. pic.twitter.com/qDVpPzj0hQ

The reemergence of conspiracy theories highlights once again how easily they can spread. In the case of the Artemis II mission, evidence shows that claims about “staged footage” are based on edited material that circulated on social media platforms.
