Turkish government officials, confirming that one gunman is dead and four are wounded, provided new details about the terrorist attack outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. Authorities are examining the perpetrators’ connections and conducting a thorough investigation of the incident. Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Tsciftsi provided more details via the X platform about the attackers’ identities and backgrounds, as well as the circumstances of the clash.
“In Istanbul, three individuals who engaged in armed confrontation with our police officers performing duties in front of Yapı Kredi Plaza were neutralized. In the clash, two of our heroic police officers were lightly wounded. The terrorists’ identities have been verified. It was determined that the perpetrators came to Istanbul from Izmit [Nicomedia] in a rented vehicle, that one of them had connections to a religious organization, while one of the two terrorists who are brothers also had a criminal record for narcotics,” he emphasized.
Terrorist attack in Istanbul: prosecution authorities intervene
The justice system was immediately mobilized, with the launch of an official investigation into the incident and the dispatch of prosecutors to the scene.
Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gürlek stated on social media that “the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office immediately launched an investigation. Within the framework of the investigation, one deputy prosecutor and two prosecutors were appointed, who immediately went to the scene of the incident and began investigations. With the goal of clarifying the case in all its dimensions, work continues under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office and in cooperation with the competent police authorities, while the investigation is conducted thoroughly and multidimensionally.”
Ankara’s message: “Our determination remains unshaken”
The Turkish government emphasizes that the attack will not affect its anti-terrorism strategy and sends a message of continued operations.
The head of Communications of the Turkish presidency Fahrettin Duran stated accordingly that “this insidious attack will never weaken our faith and determination for a world without terrorism and for a Turkey without terrorism.”
“Our state will continue with determination and persistence its struggle against all kinds of threats and provocations,” he added.

“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on the Israeli consulate in Istanbul today. We appreciate the swift action of Turkish security forces to prevent this attack. Israeli missions around the world have faced countless threats and terrorist attacks. Terror will not deter us,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated.
