The situation remains volatile in the Middle East with US forces announcing they conducted large-scale precision strikes on Kharg Island in Iran on Friday night. “American forces successfully struck more than 90 Iranian military targets on Kharg Island, while protecting oil infrastructure,” CENTCOM reported.
The strikes destroyed naval mine storage facilities, missile storage shelters and many other military targets, according to the US military in a post on X. President Donald Trump threatened yesterday to strike oil infrastructure at Iran’s Kharg Island hub unless Tehran stops attacks against ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Arab Emirates confirmed today that their consulate located in the autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq was targeted by an unmanned aircraft, according to a Foreign Ministry press release. The UAE “strongly condemns” the attack, the second this week, which resulted in injuries to “two security personnel” and “damage” to the building, according to the statement.
On Monday, forces from the Washington-led international coalition against jihadists destroyed “three explosive drones” in Erbil, according to a statement from Kurdish security services. One of them fell near the UAE consulate, with local Iraqi Kurdistan authorities condemning an “unjustified” attack.
Middle East: Iran’s strikes on Gulf countries
Meanwhile, the Fujairah region in the United Arab Emirates is on high alert as thick black smoke rose above strategically important oil facilities. The incident, confirmed by journalistic sources from the French AFP agency, appears to be another episode in ongoing attacks against energy infrastructure in the Gulf.
The fire broke out in an area hosting critical export terminals and fuel storage facilities, which have been targeted by Iranian actions in the past.
Due to the fire, oil market officials report that oil loading operations have been temporarily suspended, affecting the emirate’s operations.
Fujairah: Debris fall and drone interception
According to official information from Fujairah’s communications office, the fire was caused by falling debris after the successful interception of an unmanned aircraft (drone).
The UAE’s Fujairah port was reportedly attacked by Iranian drones, causing a large fire at the port located outside the Strait of Hormuz. According to Bloomberg, oil loading operations at the port were halted following the attack. pic.twitter.com/IAtZg4Cvwv

So far, authorities reassure there are no injuries, while strong civil protection forces are operating at the scene for complete containment of the fire.
The incident occurred shortly after direct threats from Tehran, which characterized UAE ports as legitimate military targets. In an announcement broadcast on Iranian state television, the Khatam al-Anbiya Allied Command Center warned it would strike any infrastructure hosting American military interests, within the context of the generalized conflict raging in the region.
Citizens were urged to move away from these specific zones, emphasizing that Iran claims the right to defend its sovereignty against hostile forces.
Iran claims attacks against American forces in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Kuwait
Iranian media reported statements by the commander of the Revolutionary Guards Navy, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, according to which Iranian naval forces launched “multiple successive waves” of attacks against American forces at two regional military bases.
Tangsiri mentioned as targets the al-Dhafra base in Abu Dhabi, al-Adiri in Kuwait and Sheikh Isa in Bahrain.
According to him, the strikes reportedly targeted Patriot-type radar systems, aircraft and aircraft fuel storage tanks.
Revolutionary Guards threaten US-linked facilities
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) announced earlier that American interests in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including ports and military installations, are legitimate targets, following the attack by American forces against Iranian islands, Iranian state media reported. In the same announcement
the Iranian Revolutionary Guards urge UAE residents to evacuate US ports, facilities and military shelters to avoid civilian casualties.
Israel’s message
The Israeli-American war against Iran “is intensifying and entering a decisive phase that will continue for as long as necessary,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said today.
“We are entering a decisive phase of the conflict, between the (Iranian) regime’s attempts to survive, inflicting ever greater suffering on the Iranian people, and its surrender,” Katz said in televised statements broadcast on Israeli media.
