The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will hold an emergency session on March 18 and 19 to examine the impact of the Middle East war on maritime transport and seafarer safety, “particularly within and around the Strait of Hormuz“.
This session “was convened following a request from several Council members,” emphasized the UN agency responsible for maritime security in its announcement.
