Turkey: Sends 4 fighter jets to occupied territories
According to the report, following the attack on the British Bases, Turkey as part of strengthening the defense of the pseudo-state and as a “guarantor power” will deploy 4 of its fighter aircraft to the occupied territories, which will be stationed at the illegal Tymbou airport, where security measures have also been increased. There was no “official” announcement from the “government,” the newspaper writes, while the deployment of military aircraft to the occupied territories is due to rising tensions in the broader region.
Military deployments to Cyprus
As the island remains on high alert amid fears of an Iranian attack on the British Bases at Akrotiri, several countries have dispatched military assets to Cyprus. In fact, the first country to deploy four of its own F-16s to Paphos on Monday evening was Greece. This was followed by two frigates, including the “Kimon,” which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis characterized on Wednesday as “the pride of the Greek fleet”.
After the Greek deployment, France followed with the frigate Languedoc which arrived in Cypriot waters on Wednesday, while the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is expected to arrive in the coming days.
