Iran today (3/3) denied reports that it launched a military attack against Oman, characterizing the sultanate as a “friend and neighbor.” The General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces announced that there was no military action on Omani territory, rejecting related reports, as broadcast by state television network Press TV. Earlier, Oman’s news agency reported that two drones were intercepted in the Dhofar governorate in southern Oman, while a third crashed near the port of Salalah.

Since the start of the war between Israel and the United States against Iran on Saturday (28/2), Gulf countries, including Oman, have become targets of Iranian attacks, according to the governments and media of these countries. The sultanate had a mediating role in talks between the US and Iran last week, before the outbreak of war.

At the same time, a Revolutionary Guards general warned today (3/3) that any continuation of bombings against Iran by the US and Israel would lead to retaliation against “all economic centers” in the Middle East. “We tell the enemy that if they decide to strike our vital centers, we will strike all the economic centers of the region,” stated General Ibrahim Jabari. “We have closed the Strait of Hormuz. At this moment, oil prices exceed $80 and will soon reach $200,” he added, as reported by Isna news agency, while Brent crude oil surpassed $85 today for the first time since July 2024.
