Benjamin Netanyahu appeared clear in stating that the attack launched by the armies of Israel and the United States against Iran will not turn into an endless war. In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu emphasized that “this is not an endless war,” but rather “swift and decisive action” that opens “a gateway to peace.” “It may require some time, but not years,” he insisted.
The goal, as Netanyahu framed it, is to “create the necessary conditions so that the Iranian people can take their fate into their own hands and form their own government, democratically elected, that will make Iran a different country.”
Netanyahu: Why war was launched against Iran
Netanyahu also said that the war was launched because the Islamic Republic’s ballistic missile development program and nuclear program were becoming “invulnerable.” “If no action had been taken now, no action could have been taken in the future,” he argued.
After the twelve-day war that Israel launched against Iran in June 2025, in which the US was involved for one day, the Iranians “began constructing new underground facilities that would make their ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs invulnerable within months,” Benjamin Netanyahu claimed. Tehran has denied for decades that it seeks to acquire nuclear weapons.
