“High probability” of achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza was stated by Benjamin Netanyahu, shortly before his meeting with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon.
Specifically, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his optimism to the conservative American network “Fox Business” about reaching an agreement with Hamas that would lead to hostage releases and a ceasefire declaration. “I believe there is a high probability we will have a ceasefire,” he stated characteristically, confirming that negotiations continue intensively in Doha.
Netanyahu: “Peace through strength”
Meanwhile, according to an Israeli official who spoke to the Times of Israel, the presence of Israeli Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip remains the main sticking point in the talks. However, Israel insists that its soldiers will remain in the Morag Corridor, north of Rafah, even if a ceasefire is achieved.
It should be noted that Netanyahu emphasized in his statements the importance of military strength for achieving peace. Indeed, referring to the common ideas he shares with the US president, he stressed: “Trump and I believe in the doctrine of peace through strength. First comes strength, then peace.” “We have shown great strength and it seems to be bearing the fruits of peace, as we can expand the Abraham Accords, creating a reality in the Middle East unthinkable until recently, bringing prosperity and stability“, added the Israeli prime minister.
