Diplomatic moves with military undertones are taking place in seas worldwide as international instability continues, as evidenced by the deployment of the aircraft carrier «Charles de Gaulle» in the North Atlantic and Baltic Sea. Along with it, of course, are its aircraft, frigates, supply ships, and attack submarines. This deployment is happening as a virtual exercise, but it obviously serves as a simulation as well. The announcement from France’s Ministry of Armed Forces clearly demonstrates that the chess game continues, given that Russia has based its position on an aggressive narrative and the US is once again demanding – well after the supposed satisfaction at the World Economic Forum in Davos – the annexation of Greenland. France, it should be remembered, is one of two European countries (note: the United Kingdom being the other) that possess nuclear weapons. Indeed, the «Charles de Gaulle» has select company. The Ministry of Armed Forces added: «Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Moroccan, British, Norwegian, Danish, German warships will reinforce the French Task Force»

The journey of the “Charles de Gaulle”
The Charles de Gaulle sailed on January 27 from Toulon and participated in the major exercise «Orion 26» conducted by France. It now continues «Lafayette 2 mission» in the North Atlantic before sailing toward the Mediterranean. On February 25, it is expected to arrive at the Swedish port of Malmö, where it will remain for several days – something that will happen for the first time, according to the Swedish Ministry of Defense. Additionally, it will be present in the «Guardian of the Baltic,» namely the NATO mission. This is not an exercise, as it appears the Atlantic Alliance believes that behind the cutting of cables in underwater infrastructure, as well as threats of new attacks, is Moscow. Furthermore, it will participate in NATO exercises «Steadfast Dart» in the Baltic Sea, «Neptune Strike», as well as «Cold Response», a multinational exercise organized by Norway. Indeed, it is expected to encounter Russian submarines conducting routine operations with the Northern Fleet or Baltic Fleet.
