Video footage of Ghislaine Maxwell’s daily prison routine in new Epstein files
Last Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice released approximately three million documents related to the Epstein case. Among these materials is surveillance footage from Maxwell’s cell, which was verified by Channel 4 News. The video, featuring excerpts from a total of 10 hours of recordings, was filmed in July 2020, shortly after her arrest. Maxwell appears wearing an orange prison uniform inside a cell with white walls and gray concrete flooring, making her bed, drinking water, reading a book, and lying down. Next to her is a small box containing personal items and clothes.
Maxwell was arrested on July 2, 2020, in New Hampshire, where she was located by the FBI. At that time, she was awaiting a decision on bail, which was ultimately denied. In December 2020, a judge rejected a bail proposal of $28.5 million, ruling that there was a serious flight risk. In 2021, Maxwell was convicted on a series of charges, including conspiracy to traffic minors for sexual exploitation and human trafficking. She is serving a 20-year prison sentence. In 2025, she was transferred to a low-security prison in Texas, a decision that sparked strong reactions from victims, as it was seen as providing her with preferential treatment due to safety concerns. Maxwell is expected to testify before a congressional committee on February 9. According to statements from the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, her lawyers have made it clear that she will invoke her right to remain silent.
