“You should be ashamed” said Donald Trump among other things, who was visibly irritated by a question posed by a journalist regarding the Epstein case. This isn’t the first time the American president has been annoyed by questions concerning his relationship with the notorious financier, but this time he lashed out at CNN journalist Kaitlin Collins.
Trump: Angry reaction to journalist’s question about Epstein case
Trump told her among other things “you’re the worst” and “I’ve never seen you smile” in front of the cameras. The tension escalated when the journalist pointed out that the American president was trying to attribute the recent revelations exclusively to Democrats, while the case documents that were made public record close relationships between Epstein and figures from his close political and business circles, such as Elon Musk and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Trump responded: “I’m sure it’s fine, otherwise there would be big headlines” with the journalist persisting by saying “many women who are Epstein victims are dissatisfied with how the Justice Department handled the documents.”
The US President’s response was: “I think it’s really time for the country to move on to something else, now that nothing came out about me” wanting to end it, with the journalist attempting to continue by asking “but what would you say to those who feel they haven’t been vindicated, Mr. President?”
“You are the worst journalist”
Then Trump said, visibly angry: “What did you say? You know, you are the worst journalist. You know, she’s a young woman. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile. I’ve known you for ten years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face”. In turn, Collins added: “Well, I’m asking you about Jeffrey Epstein abuse survivors, Mr. President” with Trump continuing in an angry tone “You know why you don’t smile? Because you know you’re not telling the truth. And you are a very dishonest organization, and you should be ashamed of yourselves”.
.@kaitlancollins is a female version of @Acosta . Amazing that the President of the United States turned on her and CNN right after she brought up The Epstein Files , Musk, Lutnick and survivor concerns (90 seconds) pic.twitter.com/kduktf9k2c
