Greece is reportedly very close to announcing a ban on social media use by minors under 15 years old, according to a senior government source who spoke to Reuters on Tuesday. As reported, the Greek government is seriously considering adopting related measures as part of the broader European discussion on protecting minors from the risks of excessive exposure to social media.
It should be noted that on the same day, Spain announced it plans to ban the use of social networking platforms for people under 16 years old. At the same time, it announced the establishment of legislation that would make senior executives of social networking companies personally responsible for the spread of hate speech on their platforms.
