Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation about the situation in the Middle East and Iran. Putin told the Israeli Prime Minister that he supports “intensifying political and diplomatic efforts to ensure stability and security in the region.” According to the Wall Street Journal, the communication took place before Trump decided on his next moves and amid fears of triggering a broader conflict in the region.
Citing American officials, the American publication reports that Trump’s advisors told him that the US needs more military assets in the Middle East to carry out a significant attack, as well as to protect both American troops in the region and allied nations, such as Israel, if Iran responds.
US and Middle Eastern officials do not rule out that Trump may delay action as military forces move toward the Middle East. A Qatari official stated that the US may need five to seven days to prepare for a full-scale attack.
