A factory fire, which quickly escalated in scale, broke out Wednesday morning at an industrial facility in Wolverhampton, Britain. Black clouds of smoke are visible from the building, creating a suffocating atmosphere. According to the BBC, more than 100 firefighters with 21 vehicles are responding to the incident and have warned residents and workers in the area to close their windows and doors due to toxic fumes.
According to witness accounts, ash was falling from the smoke onto cars and houses, while there was a strong smell of smoke throughout the area. “We anticipate significant disruption in and around this area for the rest of the day, evening and night as we work at the incident site, so please plan and adjust your travel accordingly,” said a fire service spokesperson.

Police have blocked pedestrian and vehicle traffic at the site. St Luke’s primary school, located nearby, sent all its students home for safety reasons. The factory measures approximately 100m x 50m.
According to reports, the fire allegedly started at an auto repair shop and then spread to nearby buildings.
