Moreover, the NGO Hands Off Cain cites information received from the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, which reported that the incident occurred on Thursday, January 8. Aminian, whose family lives in Kermanshah, was studying fashion design in Tehran at the time of her death. Reliable sources told Hengaw that Iranian government forces shot her in the head at close range and that she died from injuries sustained during the protests, while reports also indicate that Iranian authorities initially refused to hand over her body to her family.
After repeated checks, relatives were transported to the location where authorities were holding her body for identification. Subsequently, “despite continued pressure and security restrictions, the family was able to retrieve the body. However, Iranian authorities imposed strict security measures and prevented the holding of a funeral or mourning at the home of the family’s close relatives, in a village near Marivan,” explains Hands Off Cain. “Hengaw confirms that Robina Aminian is the twenty-third person of Kurdish origin recorded by the organization as dead during the recent wave of protests in Iran.”
