Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated today, Sunday (12/28) that Kyiv is making every effort to end the war with Russia, emphasizing however that the ultimate securing of peace depends on the country’s international partners.
“These are some of the most intense diplomatic days of the year and much can be resolved before the new year, and we are doing everything in this direction, but whether decisions will emerge depends on our partners,” Zelensky noted in a social media post, ahead of his scheduled talks with US President Donald Trump in Florida.
Furthermore, Zelensky added that Ukraine’s partners should increase pressure on Moscow “so that the Russians feel the consequences of their own aggression.”

More specifically, Zelensky states in his post, which he accompanies with a video showing the impact of intense Russian attacks:
“These are some of the most active diplomatic days of the year and much can be decided before New Year’s. We are doing everything we can in this direction, but whether decisions will be made depends on our partners – those who help Ukraine and those who put pressure on Russia so that the Russians feel the consequences of their own aggression. Just this week alone, they launched over 2,100 drones, about 800 bombs, and 94 missiles of various types. All of this was directed against our people, against life itself and everything that sustains it – and above all, against our energy infrastructure.
Repair crews, energy workers, and Ukraine’s State Emergency Service responders are working literally 24/7 to protect lives and restore electricity supply. However, it is equally important that sanctions against Russia work, that every form of political pressure is applied for their aggressive behavior, that Ukraine receives air defense missiles, and that we all finalize the measures that will end this war and guarantee security. These are exactly the measures we will discuss today with our partners. Thank you to everyone who helps”.
