El Al and other Israeli airlines are proceeding with massive flight cancellations following the closure of Ben Gurion Airport due to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. As expected, the situation affects thousands of passengers worldwide.

El Al and Israeli airline flight cancellations
El Al announced that all its flights and those of its subsidiary Sun D’Or are cancelled until Tuesday, June 17th. The Israeli airline extends cancellations for flights from Israel until Monday, June 23rd to the following destinations:
• European destinations: Berlin, Barcelona, Warsaw, Munich, Lisbon, Krakow, Venice, Marseille, Belgrade, Tirana, Porto
• Greek destinations: Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Crete (Heraklion), Kefalonia, Santorini, Mykonos, Lefkada
• Other destinations: Tbilisi, Batumi, Tivat, Tokyo, Chisinau, Moscow
Additionally, Israir has cancelled flights until today, June 16th, while Arkia cancelled flights until Tuesday, June 17th.
What applies to passengers with bookings
Israir passengers who made bookings by June 13th for departures up to June 30th, 2025 can cancel their booking and receive a credit voucher for future use.
Arkia announced that passengers with ticket bookings made by June 12th and flights scheduled for June 15th to 30th, 2025 who wish to postpone will receive a future credit voucher valid for two years.
Impact on vacation packages
Passengers with vacation package bookings that include flights and hotels will receive a future credit voucher only for the flight portion. For the hotel portion, cancellation fees may apply unless otherwise agreed.
Instructions for Israelis in Athens and Larnaca
The Israel Airports Authority informed that it is not recommended for Israelis residing abroad to travel to Larnaca or Athens to board return flights, as airspace to and from Israel remains closed.
Even when the security system allows flight resumption, the pace will be limited for security reasons. Passengers are expected to wait for days until return flights to Israel become possible.
