Journalist Kirill Bazhanov decided to propose marriage in an original way, asking his beloved to marry him during a live broadcast at President Vladimir Putin’s annual marathon press conference. “I know my girlfriend is watching the press conference right now. Oletska, marry me,” said Bazhanov, who appeared at the press conference wearing a suit and red bow tie while holding up a sign reading “I want to get married.”

This annual wide-ranging press conference is Putin’s opportunity to make statements on geopolitics for hours, share personal anecdotes, and even give romantic advice or promises to solve the small, everyday problems of Russian citizens.
For Bazhanov, it was the perfect romantic atmosphere to make his proposal, under the applause of attendees who had just heard the Russian president refuse to stop the bombing in Ukraine.
An hour later, one of the journalists presenting the conference informed the lovestruck colleague, the president, and the entire country that the young woman in question had responded positively to the marriage proposal.

However, Putin did not respond to the journalist’s invitation to attend the wedding ceremony, nor did he give him a direct answer to his question about the rising cost of living in Russia.
“Kirill just asked about material conditions for young families. And that’s right – a man must be a provider. Now we’ll pass the hat and collect at least what’s needed for the wedding,” the Russian president said.
