Horrific scenes unfolded at Brown University facilities in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, as a gunman killed two people and wounded nine others who remain in critical condition. Police have launched a massive manhunt to locate the armed suspect who brought death to Brown University campus, with at least 400 officers mobilized. “Unfortunately, this is a day that the city of Providence and the state of Rhode Island prayed would never happen,” said Mayor Brett Smiley, referring to the gun attacks that frequently shock American public opinion.

The university remained in lockdown for several hours after a suspect with a firearm entered a building where students were taking exams. Streets around the campus were filled with emergency vehicles for hours after the shooting attack and security was enhanced throughout the city.
Providence Police Deputy Chief Timothy O’Hara stated that the suspect has not been identified.

Authorities released a video showing the perpetrator apparently leaving the university minutes after the attack. They believe it’s a man around 30 years old, but his face is not clearly visible in the video and he has not been located.


University President Christina Paxson confirmed that 10 of the people shot were students, including the two who were killed. Another person was injured by fragments from the gunshots, according to authorities, notes the Guardian.
