American President Donald Trump is toning down the rhetoric after a harsh confrontation with his close associate and billionaire Elon Musk, during which harsh claims were made that caused turmoil in the Republican staff and created ongoing headaches for the White House. Trump specifically stated that he could restore his relationship with Musk, however he made it clear that this reconciliation is not a priority at this time.

“I don’t hold grudges,” declared the 78-year-old US President. “The truth is I was surprised when this happened. He attacked a bill that is excellent. I think he actually feels bad about saying that,” he emphasized and added: “I was disappointed in him, but, you know, that’s how things are. I don’t blame him. I was just a little disappointed.”
Speaking to the New York Post, the American President emphasized that he doesn’t blame Musk for the recent rift in their relationship, although he admitted he felt “a little disappointed.”
Trump-Musk feud: The timeline of the “battle”
Tensions between the two men escalated when Musk publicly lashed out last week over the bill which, according to the Congressional Budget Office, is expected to add $3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. The Tesla and SpaceX chief, who was leading the spending cuts initiative of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed to reduce the national debt that now reaches $37 trillion.
On Thursday, Musk personally attacked Trump, claiming that the President wouldn’t have won the 2024 election without his support, while simultaneously accusing him of “ingratitude.”
Just six days before the resounding public clash, Trump had organized a farewell ceremony at the White House for Musk, who was then completing his term as special government advisor. During the event, the President had praised Musk, who appeared with a black eye, and had implied that his billionaire friend was “not really leaving.”
