A storm of reactions erupted after a private conversation between Theodora Tzakri and Democratic Movement president Stefanos Kasselakis was leaked on social media. The controversy began when renowned lyricist Nikos Moraitis opened “Pandora’s box” by sharing a post containing the “heated” conversation between the vice-president and president of the Democratic Movement, commenting that Ms. Tzakri “accidentally uploaded it as an Instagram story for public viewing (ready for Silicon Valley)”. Hours later, social media filled with posts commenting on this “farce,” as Evangelos Antonaros called it.
The intense exchange between Kasselakis and Tzakri
According to Nikos Moraitis’ post, the two leading members of the Democratic Movement appear to have “clashed.” “You have divided many people,” Stefanos Kasselakis reportedly told Ms. Tzakri, with the party’s vice-president responding by asking for clarification. However, the Democratic Movement president didn’t seem responsive, telling her he wasn’t in the mood.
Leaked argument between Tzakri and Kasselakis: MP’s response
After the conversation was leaked, Theodora Tzakri returned with a new defensive post that served as a correction, responding both to those who saw her intense dialogue with Democratic Movement leader Stefanos Kasselakis and to those who shared it. Specifically, the vice-president and MP for Pella, whom Mr. Kasselakis encouraged in messages to unite rather than divide people, emphasized that she was attending a religious service in Edessa at the exact time the dialogue “was distributed through my personal account.” She stated: “Unknown to me how, while I was attending the doxology for the liberation of Edessa at the Holy Church of Agia Skepi, at 11:01 a fragment of private conversation was distributed through my personal Facebook account. Those who, through unknown methods, did such a thing to create impressions and undermine the Democratic Movement are gravely exposed. Morally and politically. Another incident of personal data violation with me as the victim. It goes without saying that I will investigate this to the end, having by my side the President of the Democratic Movement Stefanos Kasselakis, with whom our relations were and remain strong and unshakable. Together we fight and will fight for Democracy and the Rule of Law.

Evangelos Antonaros calls it a “farce”
Meanwhile, Evangelos Antonaros, once an ardent supporter of Kasselakis, called the conversation leak a “farce.” Specifically, the politician wrote: “A farce starring a political incompetent and narcissistic Louis XIV number 2 (number 1 is his role model named Mitsotakis) who attributes to everyone else responsibility for his production failure. Except the main culprit. Who is called Stefanos Kasselakis. Really, when will he return from America? If he returns at all. We’ll see.”

Kasselakis stands by Tzakri
Later, Stefanos Kasselakis also addressed the conversation issue with Theodora Tzakri in a Facebook post, even posting a photo of himself posing with Tyler and his dog Farley. “I’m not in the mood to respond to Blue Skies trolls – really, how’s the financial prosecutor’s investigation going? – nor to the Democrats of the Bouzouki Club trolls – really, did you save your house? If you’re happy because a person fell victim to cybercrime, you should look at yourself in the mirror instead.
Don’t worry. We’re doing great in the Movement: we have no dependence on any business interests. We don’t rely on sponsors for the party. And we have good people everywhere and have presented the only alternative model for the country. Of course I’m demanding of my closest collaborators. Especially those I particularly value. Those who mock Theodora Tzakri, I wish they had 1/10 of the courage she’s shown in her life, as well as during the parody-congress. She has faced abundant sexism and bullying in her career. She has confronted huge interests and compromised politicians. 22 years as an MP and no one can accuse her of anything. I wish you were like her. I wish many girls growing up in this country would be like her and enter politics, serve society against the toxicity of the swamp.
I’m proud of Theodora and all Movement members. Don’t be discouraged – be stubborn! “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” That’s all for today. I return to the mood I wish for all Greeks. Free time with their family with love and smiles,” he wrote.
