Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastaurou held a telephone conversation yesterday with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, following their bilateral meeting in New York at the Atlantic Council.
What Stavros Papastaurou and Chris Wright discussed
During their discussion, the focus was on the two-day “Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation” (P-TEC) initiative taking place November 6-7 in Greece, which is evolving as a strategic energy partner of the US. According to the joint invitation co-signed by Papastaurou and Wright and addressed to the 24 European P-TEC member countries, “the 6th P-TEC Ministerial Conference offers an opportunity for US and European partners to discuss strategies for further strengthening our common energy goals, including the development of affordable, reliable and secure energy systems that support strong economic growth and competitiveness. It will also serve as a key platform for exchanging views on energy technologies and projects.”
“The 2025 event will begin with a Business Forum on Thursday, November 6. This forum will provide an opportunity for leading public and private stakeholders to discuss critical energy issues. The Ministerial Conference itself will take place on Friday, November 7, focusing on liquefied natural gas and network interconnection in the P-TEC region. Additionally, it will facilitate opportunities for public officials to highlight and coordinate energy-related projects,” it concludes.
It is noted that P-TEC member country delegations will include representatives from the business community and energy companies, aiming to collaborate in the areas of affordable energy, energy security and resilience.
