Harsh criticism regarding her stance on the Tempe case was directed at Zoe Konstantopoulou by Justice Minister George Floridis, who stated that the leader of Plefsi Eleftherias party and lawyer representing victims’ families did not want the trial to begin. Specifically, as the minister said during an interview with SKAI TV, “the first and most important reason is that as long as the investigation can remain open, it is governed by secrecy and lawyers have the ability to leak selective information from thousands of documents that create distortion and conspiracy theories.”
George Floridis: Secrecy allows conspiracy theories to flourish
“Secrecy allows conspiracies to be created, such as the illegal cargo that was taken by a phantom company from Promachona, illegally loaded onto the train, which exploded and caused the fireball that took lives that would not have been lost from the collision alone. We were also told that 3 carriages had disappeared, one was vaporized and 53 passengers were lost,” George Floridis continued. “Based on this conspiracy theory,” the Justice Minister added, “the government was accused of cover-up, but this proved to be a big lie, and few of us fought it with information that came to light from newspapers and websites.”
As Mr. Floridis also recalled, “the issue that was raised recently was that a massive and exemplary investigation was closed, and there was an attempt to exploit a unfortunate person primarily by Ms. Konstantopoulou. The point of blackmailing justice was that ‘we demand exhumation for biochemical tests within the framework of the investigation that had closed’ and if this had happened, the trial would never take place. The ultimate goal was to make society explode.”
In this context, George Floridis also reminded that “every time the investigator approached closing the investigation, the lawyers did something against the investigator. Application for recusal for the judicial council to decide. Then a lawsuit against the investigator for not including 650,000 pieces of evidence, and it was proven that those who requested it had received them earlier.”
