George Gerapetritis was asked about the role of the United States President in achieving the Gaza ceasefire and the possibility of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Donald Trump after his meeting with Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen in Helsinki. Responding to the Finnish journalist’s question, the Greek Foreign Minister noted: “The truth is that President Trump’s mediation effort has led to substantial and tangible results. The plan that has been drafted is proving successful, at least in its first phase, and we look forward to its implementation. We consider this a first step towards ceasefire and the long-awaited release of hostages. This is indeed a major success, and we must praise President Trump’s mediating role.”
Gerapetritis: We hope his mediation will prove equally effective in the issue of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine
He then added: “We hope his mediation will prove equally effective in the issue of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. We believe this war must end immediately, and we are optimistic that in the near future we will be able to record positive results.”
“Regarding the Nobel Prize, it might be preferable to pose that question to Elina, who is closer to the headquarters of the Nobel Institute,” Mr. Gerapetritis concluded.
