Haris Doukas announced that he is determined to complete his term as mayor of Athens and that he will not be a candidate in the 2027 parliamentary elections, stating that he wants to honor the vote of Athenians. “I am mayor, I have said it and it is my great concern to fight for Athens. The parliamentary elections are in 2027, the municipal elections are in November 2028, and I think it is my duty, to honor the vote of Athenians, to prove every day with the work I do, the different model of governance that the country could have with a positive example for Athens,” Mr. Doukas declared on SKAI television station.
The Athens mayor also spoke about his relationship with Nikos Androulakis. “We have a common goal, and the common goal is to be able to raise PASOK. And we unite our efforts, we want political change so we don’t see Mrs. Kovesi all these things she says and this is what we fight for,” he emphasized.
Haris Doukas: “There is no president with deadlines”
At the same time, he refused to comment on recent statements by Pavlos Geroulanos and Anna Diamantopoulou. “I think, however, that it is not right to set deadlines at this moment. There is no president with deadlines,” he said. Haris Doukas also added that PASOK should proceed to the congress with unity and without introspection, to “discuss, analyze, create texts, let society embrace it, be co-shapers, so that we can strengthen our effort.”
