The hunger strike by Panos Routsi, father of Dennis who was killed in the Tempi train crash, continues to be at the forefront of the confrontation between government and opposition. The latest episode in this case unfolded moments ago in Parliament where a fierce clash erupted between Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and «Victory» party leader Dimitris Natsios.
Georgiadis against Natsios: “Go to a priest to confess“
The Health Minister called «liar», «hypocrite» and «deeply sinful» the Victory party president, arguing that he is deceiving people to gain a few votes. «You are not even a Christian, nor a patriot», he emphasized and added that what is being requested is for the government to proceed with an illegal act.
«It is a great sin and shame on you that you came to Parliament to tell the government to break the law for an issue for which it is not responsible… Go to a priest to confess because you are both a liar and a hypocrite», pointed out Adonis Georgiadis, arguing that «Victory» became a «tail» of Zoe Konstantopoulou. For his part, Mr. Natsios argued that the Health Minister is an «idolater» and «neo-pagan». He also added that there has been judicial interference in the past. «When the Prime Minister sent a letter to the Supreme Court, to Mr. Dogiakos to change the investigator in Larissa, wasn’t that interference and now he accuses us?», he wondered.
Beyond Panos Routsi’s hunger strike, the two men dueled in Parliament’s arena also over the cancellation of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The «Victory» leader characterized the Prime Minister’s presence in New York as pitiful.
«The Prime Minister’s presence at the UN was pitiful, Mr. Erdogan postponed the meeting at the last minute and went to a wedding» he also said and added that Trump has seen all leaders except Mr. Mitsotakis who he doesn’t want to see face to face. «Don’t worry, Mitsotakis will meet Trump» replied the Health Minister, while warning that the next time he calls him a neo-pagan, he will file a lawsuit against him. «You became an MP and became a political leader but today you did not honor your office, you made a gutter-level political speech» Mr. Georgiadis characteristically noted.
