New Democracy sources call PASOK the “tail” of Zoe Konstantopoulou, emphasizing that the main opposition requested with a false document that Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister George Mylonakis be summoned to the investigative committee for OPEKEPE. “PASOK proceeded with an unprecedented move of falsifying facts and data during the session of the Investigative Committee investigating the OPEKEPE case, in order to create impressions and communication tricks,” emphasize New Democracy sources.
According to the same sources, PASOK “through the letter it sent to Committee Chairman Mr. Andreas Nikolakopoulos, which was rejected during the vote, requested the immediate summoning of Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Mr. George Mylonakis, citing two arguments that are absolutely unfounded and false.
Specifically: PASOK argued that “during the parliamentary control procedure before the Hellenic Parliament on 22-9-2025, Mr. George Mylonakis admitted that he had in his hands an official briefing note about the connections of persons involved in the framework of the criminal investigation of the case”.
ND sources on OPEKEPE: We remain committed to exposing the irregularities
Mr. Mylonakis, responding to the President of Plefsi Eleftherias Zoe Konstantopoulou on 22-9-2025 during parliamentary control, repeated that he had requested a briefing note from the competent services regarding the operation of OPEKEPE without any connection whatsoever to associations as PASOK falsely claims.”
The “blue” sources emphasize that “during the Investigative Committee, majority rapporteur Mr. Makarios Lazaridis categorically refuted what the opposition unsubstantiatedly supports and additionally, challenged the MP members of the Investigative Committee to name specifically which ND MP they claim met with Mr. Mylonakis as well as the dialogue they supposedly had. “Otherwise you will be simple slanderers” Mr. Lazaridis clarified.”
“Regarding the testimony of examined witness Mr. Nikolaos Salatas, it is obvious that the opposition ‘latched onto’ a phrase to weave an entire scenario. They argued that “Mr. Mylonakis was the one who dismissed him from his position as President of OPEKEPE” in a desperate attempt at communication fireworks. The witness stated that his communication with Mr. Mylonakis lasted one and a half minutes and that he advised him to be cooperative with the European prosecutor. This testimony clearly proves Mr. Mylonakis’ intention that there be no obstacles to the work of the European prosecutor but to facilitate her investigation into the OPEKEPE case in order to shed ample light,” ND sources maintain.
“New Democracy remains committed to the goal of exposing OPEKEPE’s irregularities and with a sense of responsibility will not allow directed and fabricated ‘revelations’ for small party benefits. The truth will shine because that is what society demands. ND will continue to serve this request against the irresponsible stance of the opposition seeking a lifeline to escape from its intra-party impasses,” the “blue” sources conclude.
