A significant meeting focused on improving the competitiveness of industry took place today under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis. The meeting was attended by Ministers of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou, Development Takis Theodorikakos, as well as Deputy Ministers Thanos Petralias and Nikos Tsafos.
From the industry side, the meeting was attended by the President of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), Spyros Theodoropoulos, along with a delegation from the Federation. The participants thoroughly discussed the steps that have already been taken to enhance competitiveness in the industrial sector.
Measures discussed at the Hatzidakis meeting
The meeting focused on specific government initiatives, such as reducing corporate tax rates, lowering social security contributions, simplifying licensing procedures, as well as interventions to control energy costs.
It was agreed that further actions are needed to improve competitiveness and it was decided to hold new meetings between the government and industry representatives, aimed at coordinating actions and evaluating results.
Government and industry cooperation
The meeting highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the public and private sectors for improving the competitiveness of Greek industry. The participants emphasized that the measures already implemented constitute significant steps, but continuous monitoring and new initiatives are essential for ensuring sustainable development in the sector.
The government committed to continuing efforts to support businesses, while industry pledged active participation in new initiatives and ongoing cooperation with the relevant ministries.
