Sharp criticism was unleashed today by Nikos Androulakis against the government regarding the parliamentary investigation committee for OPEKEPE, emphasizing that it orchestrated a “charade” process by excluding the real culprits of the corruption scandal and even including deceased individuals in witness summons. The Movement for Change president characterized the situation as insulting to the memory of the deceased and demeaning to the intelligence of the Greek people, simultaneously denouncing the government for downgrading and covering up ministerial responsibilities.

Androulakis: Government manipulation in OPEKEPE investigation aimed at cover-up
Specifically, as the PASOK-KINAL President characteristically stated, “in the coming days, the first witness summons in the OPEKEPE investigation committee will begin. The New Democracy majority has once again orchestrated a charade process, tailored to the cover-up they have decided upon. Missing from the witness list are the protagonists of the corruption scandal – all those who, in close cooperation with Organization officials and under political cover from two New Democracy government ministers, squandered millions of euros in EU funds.
Such was the sloppiness of the government majority that they even included deceased ministers and OPEKEPE officials in the witness summons. This is not only insulting to the memory of people who have passed away but is also demeaning to the intelligence of the Greek people, who have been watching for months a Prime Minister initially downgrading the OPEKEPE scandal as “shadows” in response to a parliamentary question I had submitted, and later obstructing Justice from investigating his ministers’ responsibilities by refusing to establish the preliminary investigation committee we proposed. Hiding his MPs and attempting to control their vote in an unprecedented procedure in parliamentary history. Such manipulations are primarily indicative of the New Democracy government’s and Prime Minister’s governance mentality, treating the state as a party fiefdom, the parliamentary majority as a tool for degrading and insulting institutions and parliamentary procedures.”
