Deputy Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Yannis Andrianos faced the fury of farmers and livestock breeders in Serres. As shown in documented video footage, farmers and livestock breeders had organized a dynamic mobilization from Saturday morning 20/09 at the 10th Serexpo. According to lionnews.gr, they occupied the roadway, with traffic police present at the scene regulating traffic.

The booing of Yannis Andrianos
When Yannis Andrianos appeared and the gathered crowd began asking him questions about the Property Identity Number, the deputy minister failed to give convincing answers and tension escalated. The farmers and livestock breeders began throwing coffee and water at the deputy minister, who was forced to flee, while the Agricultural Economy Conference “AgroSerres,” scheduled for this morning, was cancelled.
It should be noted that the farmers and livestock breeders had pre-announced their mobilization. In their announcements, they emphasized that the Property Identity Number creates serious problems for them in managing agricultural areas and crop declarations, causing them great anxiety ahead of EU subsidy payments.
The producers stress that a solution must be found by the end of September to avoid the risk of losing subsidies. The banner of the Pan-Serres Agricultural Association read “Get the farmer’s future in ORDER” (playing on the Greek acronym ATA).
